The non-profit-making organization (WAEC) responsible for the conduct of the national examinations in the country says last year’s WASSCE questions were not leaked to the first batch of free SHS beneficiaries as reported by Africa Education Watch.
A spokesperson for WAEC, Agnes Teye Cudjoe speaking at a press briefing monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh said portions of the EduWatch’s 2020 WASSCE report are false adding that “they ignorance on how WAEC conducts its affairs.”
According to Agnes Cudjoe, the Examinations Council is considering filing a lawsuit against the Education Think Thank – Africa Education Watch over the claims that they intentionally leaked the 2020 WASSCE questions to candidates.
Commenting on leakage of examiners’ contact details, the WAEC official said the breach was unfortunate but added that one person related to the leakage has been arrested by the police, and investigations still ongoing.
The Head of the West African Examinations Council Legal department, Rev. Victor Brew, reacting to the Watch’s report in an interview with Citi FM denied the leakage and described the 2020 WASSCE report as fraught with inaccuracies.
“There wasn’t a leakage to the degree that you will say that the paper needed to be annulled. This is supposed to be a report based on research investigation, I think that Africa Education Watch must come again,” he told the radio station.
