The highly anticipated clash between the Porcupine Warriors Asante Kotoko and the Phobians Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, 15th December, 2024 at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
The two rival teams are bent on winning the bragging rights this season.
Ahead of the game, Hearts coach, Aboubakar Ouattara is confident about his team’s attitude and performance.
“Every time, we are motivated, and this season, we’ve played the hard matches before Kotoko. The venues which are difficult to get points, we made it…For the players, and me particularly, we need to play well first of all and possibly get the three points, or bring one point. And still, now, we are ahead of them”, Ouattara told the media.
Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, also says the win over Aduana Football Club has ignited self belief in his players before their game against Hearts of Oak.
He said “The win [against Aduana Stars] has brought some self-belief into the players. They now believe that they can do it…so going into our next game [against Hearts of Oak] we are going with a lot of confidence”.
Anytime Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak meet, tensions are high amongst supporters. On May 9, 2001, 127 fans died at the Accra sports stadium during a super clash between the two clubs. The event has been described as one of the worst stadium disasters in the world. Watch the video below.
