The Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress has become aware of a debate on various social media platforms on the above subject matter, particularly the appointment of an Elections Director; not losing sight of the accompanied tension and confusion.
The Secretariat wishes to state categorically that NO APPOINTMENT to the office of the Regional Elections Director has been officially made yet. The purported appointment to the office of Elections Director is therefore FALSE.
Indeed, all Committees are yet to be constituted as they are all at the final consideration stage; after which they will be forwarded to the Functional Executive Committee of the Party for confirmation, as stipulated by the constitution.
The NDC is a party governed by law and guidelines; and at no point must these laws, guidelines and procedures be sacrificed for any other consideration.
The Secretariat is by this release, directing Constituency Secretaries and Election Directors to channel all elections-related matters to the Acting Regional Secretary until an official appointment of an Elections Director is made and same communicated.
We urge all party faithfuls to remain calm as the Regional Executive Committee take steps to finalize the composition of all Committees. An official communication will be made to that effect by the Secretariat once we are through with the various compositions.
