The Governing board and management of the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has honoured Citi FM and Citi TV’s Eastern Regional Correspondent, Neil Nii Amatey Kanarku for his dedication and professional reportage of the institution’s activities over the years.
He was honoured with a citation of honour and an amount of money.
According to the university, the prompt, balanced and accurate delivery of reports from Mr. Kanarku has been a significant factor in the growth and advancement of the university.
This latest honour is the second time in two years the university has shown appreciation to the selfless work and dedication of Nii Kanarku.
Last year he was awarded a plaque of honour and cash prize during the 2nd media soiree organized by the university.
Delivering a speech at the 3rd Media Soiree, the Vice Chancellor of KTU, Prof. Mrs. Smile Dzisi called on journalists and media houses in the country to make an impact in society with accurate reportage.
“We have a lot of stakeholders but the media is our most cherished and important stakeholder because we understand your work and we know the kind of impact your work can make in our society. Throughout our 20 years of existence, the media has been a faithful and reliable stakeholder making sure that everything and every good thing done gets to the public within and outside the country and I must say your activities have given us a positive exposure.”
Professor Mrs Dzisi also pledged to collaborate with media houses to help impact the society positively.
“We will continue to partner you in everything we do and faculties within the institution will adopt and sign a memorandum of understanding with each media house for extensive collaboration. I will also entreat you to use your work to make a positive impact on the change we need in our society. We believe in your work and we know with accurate reportage we can make an impact in this country,” she added.
The Graphic Communications Group Limited, the Eastern Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency, Edmund Quainoo and Maxwell Kudekor of the Multimedia Group also received cash and citations for their efforts under the year under review.
