The two premier Universities in the Eastern region featured in heated debate contest organized by the Center For National Culture (CNC), on Friday, 15th March 2019, at the cultural CNC Auditorium, Koforidua.
The debate started off on a note of confusion because the teams from both universities prepared against the motion for the day. This lapse could be attributed to the negligence of All Nations University and wrong communication from the organizers.
But calm was soon restored. Each team after balloting, was given 15 minutes to prepare for a new motion: ‘sanitation is the sole responsibility of government.’
KTU balloted for the motion and ANU, against.
KTU was represented by Mr. Yussif Gariba, an SRC 2019 presidential aspirant and Mr. Divine Enam Dandzo, President of the Debate society.
The contest which was closely fought, saw KTU occupy the first spot with a total of 72 points, with ANU lagging behind with a total of 69 points.
The whole auditorium was thrown into jamboree as Team KTU was crowned the champions of the day by the chief adjudicator. The beautiful ladies from Nursing and Midwifery training college took to the floor to celebrate KTU. This incensed ANU students who in shock, stormed back to their campus in anger.
Students from other tertiary institutions, SHS and JHS were there to monitor the contest.
In the mean time, KTU Debate Society is scheduling to contest University of Ghana and Central University in a debate.
Good work done, we are proud of you.
