It has come to the notice of the debate society, a communique being circulated widely by Team Nyame Akasa purporting that Safo Kantanka has done a lot for the debate society.
With the avoidance of any shred of doubt, we wish to state emphatically clear that some of the information being peddled by Safo kantanka are not true and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.
The truth of the matter is as follows:
- KTU debate society is not using any Constitution as proposed by Safo Kantanka. In fact we are still working on our constitution by drawing parallels with the constitutions of debating societies existing in numerous universities, and not only from the university of Ghana debate Society.
- Safo Kantanka has no hand in the founding of KTU debate society. It was through the hard work of KTU SRC’s immediate past Speaker of General Assembly that the society was founded. It should be noted that safo Kantanka only joined when matters had already been settled.
- KTU debate society has not accepted and is not using the logo designed by the Safo Kantanka. The logos of all Debate Societies is just the logo of the university itself accompanied by the name of the society. What Safo did was far from this.
- It’s true that KTU debate society since its inception has done marvelously well. So far, we have won every competition we have been to. Safo Kantanka had not in any way featured in any of our success stories, to say the least.
We want to advise Candidates to engage in principled politics and not get entangled in the habit of taking undue advantage of situations to propagate half-truths for political exigencies.
