The Technical University Teachers’ Association Of Ghana (Tutag) National Secretariat has on 11th June 2021 held a press conference to declare a strike.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
This press conference is a very brief one because the matter to both government and TUTAG is simple and straightforward.
- The Conditions of Service for TUTAG members expired in 2006. We have since been engaging government to get us a new Conditions of Service to no avail.
- Though the government has agreed in writing that we are to enjoy the same conditions of service comparable to the traditional universities, that is yet to be implemented.
- 2018/2019 Research Arrears due TUTAG members has since been pending
- Tier-Two pension payment for TUTAG members going on retirement has since not commenced, despite repeated promises by the government.
TUTAG has on several occasions reminded the government and the National Labour Commission on these issues but has never received even an acknowledgment.
For this reason, TUTAG is left with no option other than to declare an indefinite partial strike with effect from Monday 14th June 2021.
By this declaration, TUTAG members should not engage in any of the following activities:
- Teaching
- Invigilation
- Supervision of students
- Marking of examination scripts and submission of results
- Attending meetings of the university.
However, TUTAG members should continue to render community service in their capacities as lecturers.
The National Secretariat counts on the cooperation of all members across the country to make this strike a successful one.
