In Ghana, 1st May marks a day of honoring the nation’s hardworking public and private sector work force. The celebration of this year’s May Day was however celebrated in grand style, taking into consideration the launch of an undoubtedly great initiative by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led Government of Ghana, which projects at giving a temporary 3 years employment avenue to all post-secondary graduates. At the launch, the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo emphasized the long term plans being designed to permanently employ those graduates who would successfully complete the 3 year NABCO initiative.
Of currently serving national service personnel however, the case of having an opportunity to enroll unto this initiative seems to have been pointed out clearly that, until an applicant had successfully completed his/her national service, he/she is not qualified for enrollment. National Service Personnel nationwide have since raised so many concerns in relation to this clause attached to the enrollment especially in the case that, the current service personnel have only three working months to exit the scheme. The question is what happens after they have exited their agencies as service personnel?
Responding to an after launch encounter with the team leader of the designers of the NABCO initiative, Dr. Ibrahim Anyars told the Public Relations Officer of NASPA-Ashanti that, enrolment unto the NABCO has been scheduled into phases. The first phase of registration begins 1st May and ends 1st June for processing to be done. Afterwards, doors shall be opened again in August for exiting service personnel to also apply for subsequent enrollment unto the project. He also reiterated that, the NABCO initiative seeks to be the grounds for officially testing the waters for providing future permanent job security for the teeming unemployed graduates.
The NASPA-Ashanti would therefore like to use this medium to encourage all service personnel across the Ashanti region to be calmed as much as possible as leadership of the association shall hold constant deliberations with Dr. Ibrahim Anyars in particular for a quota. Our readiness’s to serve necessarily transcend beyond the borders of being national service personnel and so we require a very good treat of the NABCO initiative. Thus to say, if there is any employment avenue such as the NABCO initiative which has been duly launched, the service personnel who have only about 3 months to exit from their various service agencies should also be considered.
Having apprised our constituents on this very laudable project and the future of the service personnel as it relates to the enrollment unto the initiative, we would want to again use this opportunity to congratulate the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his immense thoughts of salvaging the unemployed graduate from the devastating struggle of making a living. We also applaud the efforts of the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and the leader of the Team NABCO initiative, Dr. Ibrahim Anyars for their sound technocratic innovation of this applauded program. We look forward for other great initiatives which shall equally seek to create employment avenues for the Ghanaian unemployed graduate.
