The University of Education, Winneba, UEW, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kingdom Books and Stationery Limited to establish a state-of-the-art bookshop at the University’s campus to attend to the needs of students.
This according to the University will also provide students on-campus access to stationery and modern books to help in academic work.
Vice-Chancellor of UEW, Professor Anthony Afful Broni, who signed the MoU on behalf of the university noted that the partnership will go a long way to improve the reading habit of students on campus while providing them with modern stationery.
“The MoU will be advantageous for students on campus because they will get the opportunity to patronize quality books written by Kingdom Books. We are also grateful to Kingdom Books for the challenge,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
Professor Afful Broni indicated that a request has been received from Kingdom Books and Stationery to again build a bigger facility on campus, adding that negotiations are underway for the commencement of the project.
“I have received a request from Kingdom Books and Stationery which will be tabled before management very soon regarding the building of a bigger book and stationery shop to reflect the size of this university,” Afful Broni said.
General Manager of Kingdom Books and Stationery Limited, Peter Gyateng, who was grateful for the collaboration noted that their presence on campus will be useful to students on campus.
“We are grateful for the collaboration and the opportunity given to us to establish on campus. We also believe our presence on campus will help inculcate reading habits among students on campus while patronizing our modern stationery”.
He added that they have plans of establishing branches on all the satellite campuses of the university.
“We already have branches on some university campuses across the country, but we will take advantage of UEW’s huge size and establish branches on their campuses,” General Manager of Kingdom Books and Stationery Limited said.
