The Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) after lamenting a bad condition of service that resulted in a strike has agreed to suspend the ongoing nationwide industrial action on Friday, June 18, 2021.
The strike call off comes after the leadership of the Association met the National Labour Commission (NLC) and the Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum on Wednesday to find solutions to the teachers’ grievances.
Members of TUTAG following the assurance of the Education Minister and NLC are expected to fully resume work on Monday, June 21, 2021, for academic activities to continue in various technical universities in the country.
Dr Michael Brigandi, the National President of the Teachers Association in an interview with the Accra-based Class FM said the Minister for Education, Dr Adutwum at the Wednesday meeting assured them their demands will be met.
The Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana Monday commenced a nationwide strike in a bid to get their grievances addressed by the Akufo-Addo led government through the National Labour Commission (NLC).
But, the Labour Commission in a statement urged the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana to halt the strike action and meet them to discuss their grievances.
