The Universal Hall of Koforidua Technical University, has condemned the act of embezzling funds, which is gradually becoming a norm so far as the SRC is concerned.
Throwing their weight behind the General Assembly, the all male hall (Animal Kingdom), through a press release promised to go all the way to Hades for justice to prevail.
In a release that has gone viral on social media, they stated that the M&E committee ahs opened the eyes of the students on the dealings of the SRC which is rather an unfortunate attribute.
Here is a copy of the release sighted by ktuinsider.com;
Yesterday, the General Assembly mandated Monitoring and Evaluation committee in their report came out some breath taking revelations about some acts of corruption that went down during the SRC Akwaaba Celebration last semester.
Before we proceed we would like to commend the committee for the good work done. If before we were blind, then indeed they have opened our eyes. We believe more of their activities would put SRC officials on their toes and such help to make the SRC a better institution for us all.
We condemn in the strongest and no uncertain terms the corruption that went down in the organization of SRC Akwaaba week celebration.
For a student population that suffer to pay school fees, one would have expected the SRC to be diligent in the dispensing of the cash entrusted to it’s care.
We have observed from the committee report that some officials hoarded and spent SRC cash with impunity. And at the end of the day could not render account when asked to.
The image of the SRC has already been dented by past administrations and we believe actions like these would only serve to increase the disaffection between the SRC and it’s members(students).
Such rancorous relationship is not needed if the SRC is supposed to grow.
The SRC derives it’s mandate from students and must at all times serve the interest of students, not the parochial interest of some greedy few.
We also by this communiqué encourage the Judicial committee to go about it’s duty investigating the issue without fear or favour. At this hour it is the only body that can save the image of the SRC and righteousness demands they do so. All those found guilty should be brought to book, sanctioned and made to refund the monies they have embezzled.
We also by this communique enjoin the General Assembly to not spare the Rod. They should uphold the recommendations of the Judicial committee in case the greedy few are found culpable.
We at Animal kingdom are of the view that the SRC has mechanisms in place to deal with this problem but if it’s fails to do so, we would surely intervene, and SRC executives shall know peace. We won’t sit down for the hard earned monies of poor students to misused by some greedy few within the SRC.
