No one can vividly tell me they were admitted to the University only, i repeat only to take their books to study OR only to come and mingle with the flippant masses around campus. My dear reader if that’s how and what you think then you are about to rot literally. Hahaha I’m not here to pick a quarrel with anyone but primarily here to introduce to you probably the most reverred club on campus to you so you could join as you take your academic studies serious too. Now that’s how varsity world works —studying the books and joining a collegial club or association on campus as well . Not only one side of the cake.
BRIEF INTRO
Now the esoteric talk is all about Rotaract club of Ktu which is a subset of its parent club christened Rotary Club. The Rotary club is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together people in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world with its members knows as Rotarian whiles rotaractor is the member name of the Rotaract club.So this makes Rotractors true partners in service and key members of the family of Rotary. It is a non-political and a non-religious organization and by that i mean it’s open to all people regardless of race, color, religion, gender.
In conjunction, Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young people like you and me to enhance knowledge and skills that would assist us in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of the community and to promote better relation between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.
OBJECT
The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of a worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
First, the development of acquaintances as an opportunity for service
Second, high ethical standards in business, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each member’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society
Third, the application of the ideal of service and the community life
Fourth, the advancement of international, goodwill and peace through world fellowship united in the ideal of service.
THE 4-WAY TEST
There is no need to argue over the statement “honesty is the best policy”. Then also don’t argue with me when I say you are more likely to gain people’s trust and cooperation when you are just and fair. Let me ask a question.. does GOODWILL breeds better FRIENDSHIP? Your guess is good as mine. In short, everything we do must be beneficial to all concerned. The 4-Way Test considers the following questions in respect to the way we think, say and do.
IS IT THE TRUTH?
IS IT FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED?
WILL IT BUILD GOODWILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIP?
WILL IT BE BENEFICIAL TO ALL CONCERNED?
RENDEZVOUS
Our place of meeting is scheduled Mondays and Wednesday @5pm as we assemble at the summer hut infront of ADB Bank on the very campus of Koforidua Technical University. I humbly invite each and every student to join us, not just once but consistently and be committed to the club since that’s the only recipe to the clubs activeness on campus.
Like the saying goes, ”PROOF OF THE PUDDING IS IN THE EATING”.
